PEANUT CHIKKI

PEANUT CHIKKI

Dear Diary… Today, I Met My Childhood Again

Written by: Chini from Charliee

Dear Diary,

Today felt different. Like a small piece of my past quietly found its way into my present.
It wasn’t a song, or an old photo.
It was… a snack.

Just a chikki.

But not just any chikki — this one was from a brand called Charliee. I came across it while browsing online last night (you know that kind of scrolling you do when you’re not hungry, but somehow, still looking for something to eat?).
I didn’t expect much. I only wanted to calm my usual 5 PM craving.

But the moment I opened the packet, it felt like my childhood came back.

The smell of roasted peanuts hit me first — not the oily kind from supermarket bars, but the same deep, nutty aroma Nani’s kitchen had when she roasted them on her old iron tawa. Then came the scent of jaggery — warm, rich, slightly smoky. It reminded me of those quiet Sunday afternoons when I would sneak into the kitchen to "taste-test" what maa was making.

I took one bite.
And I just paused.

Because suddenly, I was six again — feet swinging under the dining table, fingers sticky with foil-wrapped chikki, laughing with my brother about who gets the bigger piece.
That’s how real it felt.

I got curious, like I always do, and looked up how Charliee makes their peanut chikki. And wow — now I understood why it felt so special.

Charliee has been making traditional snacks for over 33 years. It’s a family-owned brand that still prepares chikki in small batches, using only roasted peanuts and pure melted jaggery. The best part? They don’t add extra sweetness or take shortcuts. Every bite tastes like it came straight out of maa’s recipe book.

These days, it’s hard to find something that tastes this good and doesn’t come with an ingredient list you can’t pronounce. But Charliee’s jaggery peanut chikki? It’s clean, real, and full of love.

And now, here I am — full, nostalgic, and kind of emotional over a snack I almost didn’t order.

But that’s the thing — Charliee’s chikki didn’t just fix my craving.
It reminded me that food isn’t always about filling your stomach.
Sometimes, it fills your heart.
Sometimes, it brings you closer to home — even if you're miles away.

Anyway Diary, I’ll end here for now. But tomorrow, I’m going to try their chakli. If it’s anything like this chikki... you’ll definitely hear from me again.

Love,
Chini
